PARIS APARTMENT

INTRODUCTION

Transforming an attic into a comfortable and functional living space is always one of the most stimulating challenges for an interior designer. It requires addressing limited dimensions and managing spaces with precision, often calling for custom solutions. In this project, the challenge was to redefine elements traditionally seen as “problematic” in an attic, such as exposed beams and sloping ceilings, turning them into the strengths of a fresh and surprising design.

THE MOOD BAORD

The style revolves around deep tones of brown and taupe: the exposed beams, painted in a rich dark chocolate color, harmonize with the walls, designed to envelop the space in a warm and intimate atmosphere. The oversized furnishings defy the conventional perception of attic spaces. An oversized bathtub, large sofas, and imposing furniture visually expand the environment, while their strategic placement skillfully balances the sloping areas. The materials chosen merge industrial aesthetics with luxury—wrought iron structures blend with fine leather details, and polished brass contrasts with fabrics featuring bold weaves and pronounced textures. The internal staircase, accompanied by numerous artworks, has been transformed into the centerpiece of the entire apartment, reimagined as a vertical art gallery.

EXPERIENCE

The client, a passionate collector of ethnic art, found in this space a stage that enhances his vast collection of 18th-century Indian artworks. These now integrate harmoniously with contemporary design elements, creating a dialogue between different eras and cultures. This project demonstrates how, in the hands of a visionary designer, the perceived limitations of a space can transform into creative opportunities, resulting in an environment that meets functional needs while becoming a personal sanctuary where art, design, and everyday life intertwine.
